As a practising pharmacist for over fifty years I had always regarded "alternative therapies" with some scepticism. However, three years ago I suffered a very severe attack of gout. Being obliged to take a cocktail of drugs to control a serious

cardiac condition my GP was reluctant to prescribe analgesics other than paracetamol. Unsurprisingly, this did little to relieve my pain.
In desperation I decided to try acupuncture and consulted Ms Maxine Smillie who had been strongly recommended to me. I am pleased to report that from the first treatment I have experienced a dramatic improvement in my condition.
